Exchange foreign coins at GWK Travelex

We’re often asked if we accept donations of foreign coins as well as foreign banknotes.

Unlike GWK Travelex, we actually do accept foreign coins!

At GWK Travelex, you cannot exchange foreign coins; you can only exchange foreign banknotes.

Incidentally, at GWK Travelex, you can only exchange banknotes from about 20 popular countries back into euros. You can order banknotes for many other countries before your trip at GWK, but exchanging them back is much more difficult.

We even accept old coins like Deutsche Marks, although we must be honest, foreign coins often have very little value. Therefore, sending these coins to us is relatively expensive compared to the shipping costs.

So, if you have a lot of coins lying around and would like to drop them off, that’s always welcome. However, if you wish to send us a large number of coins (and therefore a significant weight), it might be helpful to inform us in advance via info [at] buitenlandsgelddoneren.nl.

If you can tell us which currency you have (the amount or quantity is not necessary), we can often tell you which coins we do and do not wish to accept. For example, we may only accept coins of 5 German Marks and higher, or 100 French Francs and higher.

If you send us a package or envelope, we will always refund the shipping costs upon request. However, as a non-profit organization, we ask that you be cautious about what you send.

How to donate to Charity Cambio?

• We accept all types of foreign currency, both coins and banknotes.
• This also includes currency that is generally no longer exchangeable.
• You can drop off your donation yourself at the reception desk at the address below. Opening hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.
• You can also mail your donation. Please be sure to cover the shipping costs yourself. Please include your information (IBAN and email address) in a note inside the envelope, and we will reimburse the shipping costs.
• If you provide an email address, you will always receive a response. Please be patient, as we are volunteers and process received currency quarterly.
