Can I still exchange currency from countries outside Europe?

Yes, that’s possible!

Chinese Money – The Renminbi is the official currency of the People’s Republic of China. It is the legal tender in mainland China, but not in Hong Kong and Macau. It is abbreviated as RMB, and the units for the Renminbi are the Yuan, Jiao, and Fen: 1 Yuan = 10 Jiao = 100 Fen.

GWK Travelex primarily accepts “hard currencies,” such as British Pounds, US Dollars, or Australian Dollars. This is often not possible for “soft currencies.”

You can, of course, still donate this “soft currency” from outside Europe to us!

As you can read in this message, it’s even still possible to exchange old currencies from European countries, such as Spanish Pesetas.

But we also still welcome currencies from countries outside Europe, even if the money only seems to have a few euros’ worth of economic value.

Have you been on holiday in, for example, South Africa? You can simply donate South African Rand to us. Or have you been on a business trip to China? We’re happy to accept Chinese Yuan!

Visited family in Suriname? We’re very happy to accept Surinamese Dollars!

How to donate to Charity Cambio?

• We accept all types of foreign currency, both coins and banknotes.
• This also includes currency that is generally no longer exchangeable.
• You can drop off your donation yourself at the reception desk at the address below. Opening hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.
• You can also mail your donation. Please be sure to cover the shipping costs yourself. Please include your information (IBAN and email address) in a note inside the envelope, and we will reimburse the shipping costs.
• If you provide an email address, you will always receive a response. Please be patient, as we are volunteers and process received currency quarterly.
