What is the deadline to exchange Dutch Guilders?

As you can see in the overview below from the European Central Bank, it is possible to exchange guilder banknotes for euros at De Nederlandsche Bank until January 1, 2032.

Unfortunately, it has not been possible to exchange guilder coins for euros at De Nederlandsche Bank since 2007. You can still donate these guilder coins to us!

De Nederlandsche Bank is the main bank of the Netherlands and supervises commercial banks such as ING, Rabobank, and ABN Amro. De Nederlandsche Bank is also the issuer of Dutch euro coins and banknotes.

De Nederlandsche Bank has its cash center in Haarlem and even has a counter where private individuals can exchange guilders for euros.

You must make an appointment by phone in advance. The exchange only takes a few minutes. You must be able to identify yourself and complete a form explaining the origin of the guilders.

How to donate to Charity Cambio?

• We accept all types of foreign currency, both coins and banknotes.
• This also includes currency that is generally no longer exchangeable.
• You can drop off your donation yourself at the reception desk at the address below. Opening hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.
• You can also mail your donation. Please be sure to cover the shipping costs yourself. Please include your information (IBAN and email address) in a note inside the envelope, and we will reimburse the shipping costs.
• If you provide an email address, you will always receive a response. Please be patient, as we are volunteers and process received currency quarterly.
